chocolate chip cookies
we made chocolate chip cookies it took a long time as our group had some problems with the ingredients and it was a bit to dry.
this is the recipe
100g butter
1/2 cup Chelsea white sugar
1/2 cup Chelsea soft brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 1/2 cups flour
pinch of salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cups chocolate chips
method
melt butter, and add both sugars and cream these together. beat in the eggs and vanilla then put in yhe dry ingredients. roll into medium sized balls, making sure the mixture is not to wet! put on a well greased baking tray they shouldn't spread too much so flatten slightly. bake at 180' for 8-10 minutes.
Tip you can easily half this recipe or roll half into a log wrap in cling film and freeze cut into 15 pieces while still frozen and bake.
this were very good but a bit dry *very good with a glass of milk

workshop 1
Theme and Ideas - continuous idea/ subject that links throughout the text
'Looks can be deceiving' - don't judge a book by its cover
- don't judge by appearance
Example 1: character of Wybie- when we first met him he seems scary (mask, motorbike, use of high angles to look bigger, loud music) but in reality hes just a weird neighbour.
>shows theme because like other characters, our first impression based on appearance, tone, visual techniques aren't always correct.
>important because helps audience understand with Coraline that just because something looks good doesn't mean it is - should chose the real world over the other world.
Example 2: character of the 'other mother' - she seems normal/friendly at the start but by the end she becomes a soul devouring spider demon.
>shows the theme because 'other mother' isn't what she appears to be at the start so we shouldn't judge by first impression.
>important because Coraline realises that having something that looks perfect isn't always a good thing.
Statement - in Coraline, the theme 'looks can be deceiving' is used effective to engage the audience.
Evidence - for instance, the character of the 'Other Mother' shows us that looks can be deceiving because she starts off as a king mother figure but gradually changes into a soul devouring demon.
eXplanation- This makes us understand that we shouldn't judge a audience character by first impressions as they can often be wrong.
eXplanation - This is done to help Coraline decide between the director real world and the other world. If the 'other mother' was really perfect Coraline wouldn't chose to go home.
eXplanation - combined with this use of colour and lighting. The 'Other Mother' first appears in a vibrantly bright room that makes us feel warm and safe. However, by the end it has become dark and green witch makes the viewer feel scared and shows that her look was deceiving
your link - This can be a juxtaposed to the charicter of wybie who we think at first is evil but is actually kind, proving looks can be deceiving
